Condition / Challenge:
Pheonix was diagnosed at age 12 with Rhabdomysarcoma, a rare form of cancer that affects the muscles attached to the bones. Since her diagnosis, she has undergone several hospitalizations, treatments, and some complications.

Celebrated For:
Despite her diagnosis and difficult treatments, Pheonix maintains a wonderful spirit and genuine personality. She has always been dedicated to helping others and serving her community. At age three, Pheonix gave her piggy bank to her mother and asked if she could donate it to children who do not have homes. At age nine, she pulled a wagon around her neighborhood collecting canned goods for the local food pantry. She also visited patients in a local nursing home who did not have any local family coming to visit them.

Her most recent project was collecting winter gear such as coats, blankets, hats and gloves, to donate to her local homeless shelter. Although most people donate used items, Pheonix used her own money to buy new items to donate – that’s just the kind of girl she is!

While she devotes much of her time to community service, she is also involved in basketball and soccer, while still managing to maintain excellent grades. She just seems to excel at everything she puts her mind to!
