Amniotic band syndrome
Celebrated For:
Ryanne is 13 years old and was born with amniotic band syndrome, which resulted in her right arm being amputated below the elbow and both of her legs amputated at the knee. Despite what “most” would consider a challenge (to say the absolute least), she has tried just about every sport known to man! She enjoys soccer, softball, surfing, swimming, archery and gymnastics. However, her favorite sport is track! In fact, Ryanne has her sights set on running for Team USA at the Tokyo Paralympic Games in 2020!
In 2010, Ryanne was the Junior Race Director for the Dallas Whiterock Marathon benefitting her hospital, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. And she’s not only an amazing athlete, she’s also volunteers at TSRHC! In June of 2014, Ryanne was named Junior Athlete of the Year at the UCO Endeavor Games in Edmond, OK.
At the Endeavor Games in 2015, Raynne medaled in the 100m, 200m and 400m in track. …ALL GOLDS!! She also earned Gold medals in the 25 free, 25 back and 50 free in swimming and earned a Silver medal in ARCHERY. Her participation in the Endeavor Games earned her the privilege of competing at the National Junior Disabilities Championships in New Jersey, where she earned 6 Gold medals in all of her swimming and track events!
