Condition / Challenge:
Brainstem Glioma – a cancerous tumor originating in the brain, brainstem or spinal tissue

Celebrated For:
Autumn excels in the area of recognizing needs and raising community awareness and assistance efforts for children going through a difficult time. When she was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, her birthday and Christmas wish that year was for stuffed animals to be donated to other children who were experiencing similar challenges. The motto she developed is, “Every child deserves a smile!”

Her first year of collecting stuffed animals resulted in 1,300 gifts for children, some of which went to children of fallen military heroes by way of the Snowball Express. Last year she collected 3,000 stuffed animals that were given to children experiencing hospital time among other challenges, as well as to a Fort Worth Judge who deals with children having a difficult time enduring sensitive court proceedings.

“Autumn has overcome a lot in the past four years and is an amazing 13-year-old girl. Even when she had a health setback last year that landed her in the hospital for another six months, she still kept her smile. Her bears are called Autumn’s Angel Bears, as she is an angel on earth.”
